One of the reasons why I started the blog is because I wanted to add my own, small voice to topics that interested me. I wasn’t necessarily seeing my own views and opinions being reflected within the broader gay media, so I decided to find a way to contribute.
That’s why the blog is called the Little Gay Blog. It’s just the voice of one guy. I’ve never claimed to represent anyone other than myself. If you agree with my thoughts and opinions, great! If you don’t, that’s fine too. I don’t think I’m 100% right. I just try to write honestly and reflect how I feel about certain things.
But it’s not just all about me. I know (from the many emails I’ve received from readers over the years) that there are thousands of other voices out there. I would love, love, love to share those voices – your voices – with others through this blog.
So if you feel like you’d like to share your thoughts, or opinions, or experience about a topic of interest to other gay guys – I strongly encourage you to get in touch with me. I love being able to showcase different sides to our diverse community.
Now I can’t promise you instant world fame and recognition. The blog has a good readership, and it’s growing each month and each year. But it’s no Advocate, OUT or DNA. So please keep that in mind.
Also, this blog is a passion project for me. I hate, hate, hate ads or sponsored content, so this blog will always remain 100% independent. I don’t make any money from it, which means that I won’t be able to pay you for your contribution. But you will get full credit and it will be clear that it’s your original work.
And hey, please don’t feel like you need to be a professional writer. I’m not, and I seem to get by OK. As long as you manage to get your points across, I’m not too fussed by perfect grammar or punctuation. I can always help you with the technical side of writing if you like, but there’s a certain beauty in imperfection anyway – so please don’t let that stop you.
There are no hard and fast rules as such, just a few guidelines to keep in mind –
- Share an idea, opinion or experience that is true to you. It doesn’t matter if I agree with it or not, just express something genuine and that you really and honestly believe in.
- Pick a topic that will be of interest to other gay guys. It can be big or small, serious or funny, but the article needs to be able to have meaning and interest to other people.
- Lastly, no commercial or sponsored content. I love showcasing gay artists, brands and businesses, but I do that because I’m genuinely interested in that person or brand. There’s no financial transaction behind it.
So, if you’re interested, please send me an email with your idea or article to – email@example.com
And if you know someone who might be interested in this, please feel free to share this article with them.
I look forward to hearing from you, and keep an eye out for some awesome guest writers coming up!
